Nikkei Asia - Australian port dispute brings increasing pain to economy

Extensive article in Nikkei Asia referencing Australian peak industry bodies.
QUOTE:
Paul Zalai, chief executive of the Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA), a representative body for the international supply chain sector, said a recent hike in terminal access fees by DP World had "rubbed salt in the wound" as shortages loomed with significant amounts of freight trapped in Singapore.
He said with more negotiations between Australia's other two main stevedores - Hutchison Ports and Patrick - and their workers coming up in 2025 and early 2026, Australia's supply chains could face more pressure in the future even if a deal with DP World is reached.
"There's every chance that we may have more industrial action in the years ahead," Zalai said.
