Change in Acceptance of Shipping Instructions

Maersk Line would like to inform our customers of the change in the process of Acceptance of Shipping Instructions and application of amendment fee for payment terms effective 2nd September 2013.

Maersk Line have identified that the acceptance of Shipping Instructions needs to be improved in order to develop our data quality and meet our customer's expectations in regards to improving our invoice quality. These changes are the result of an extensive analysis on potential causes that ultimately impact invoice quality.

The changes to acceptance of Shipping Instructions are as follows:

The terms of payment (prepaid, collect, invoice payer) need to be provided when submitting Shipping Instructions. This will be a mandatory requirement.

If payment terms are unclear in the Shipping Instructions, notification will be sent via email with the invoice payer and/or payment terms based on historical shipment records. If a change needs to be made, there will be no charge to do so before the vessel sailing date i.e. Shipped on Board Date as is indicated on the draft verify copy.

If an amendment request is received, the Amendment fee of USD 25 per amendment request per Bill of Lading will be applied for all change requests received post vessel sailing date i.e. Shipped on Board Date as indicated in your draft/verify copy. To avoid amendment charges, any changes to the draft verified copy needs to be made before the vessel sailing date.

By the end of 2013, our aspiration is to provide our customers with 92% invoice accuracy on our ocean freight invoices.

Delivering on time and accurate invoices allows our customers to create efficiency in their shipping process, and improve visibility to their transportation costs.

Please note: If your shipment is subject to Advanced Manifest or No Doc/No Load customs rules, Maersk Line will need completed Shipping instruction(s) from you before the deadline in order to load your cargo on the intended vessel.
