Wednesday, March 27, 2024

27 March 2024

Who does this notice affect?

Importers, biosecurity industry participants and accredited persons operating under the department's class 19 approved arrangements, freight forwarders and other industry participants who arrange documentation for imported goods.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is conducting industry focus groups to understand key areas of the Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy that require clarification with the aim to improve regulatory outcomes.

Stakeholders who use the policy are invited to attend a focus group session on one of the following dates:

  • Monday 8 April at 1:00PM AEST
  • Wednesday 10 April at 2:00PM AEST
  • Monday 15 April at 10:30AM AEST

Sessions will be held virtually using Microsoft Teams and participants will use an interactive survey tool to share experiences on certain aspects of the policy. The session will be an individual face-to-screen format.

The areas identified through these sessions will be our priority in the short term with a scheduled review of the policy to commence in the 2024/25 financial year.
