VALE - Jim Evans

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) have received the sad news that Jim Evans passed away on Sunday 23rd February in Westmead Hospital.   Jim (Jimbo), was one of the "good guys" of Customs, who rose to the position of Chief Inspector before retiring early to care for his late wife, Sue.   He was much loved within the Customs Agent / Broker community, as he taught many an aspiring Customs Agent / Broker through the TAFE course at Petersham TAFE. I personally had the pleasure of being taught by Jim through my Customs Brokers course in the late 70s. Jim was also an integral part of the Customs Agents Institute of Australia's "Education Committee" and had a hand in writing text books for the TAFE course and assisted in writing the "dreaded" National Exam. His commitment to education and mentoring is legendary.   Jim had been in poor health for many years.   Our thoughts are with his family at this time.   Funeral arrangements are yet to be finalised - please refer to local papers for details  John Park - Head Of Business Operations | FTA / APSA
