Global Finance Report Weekly Market Commentary Equity markets finished the week strongly, recovering lost ground from the 'correction', lending further strength to the bull market. US Bond Yields settled, although the momentum is upward, as Central Banks return to normal monetary policy. The rising interest rate environment in the US has supported a stronger Dollar. The EUR slipped below 1.2300, while the GBP also drifted under 1.4000, despite recovering economies within the European market. The coming week has a wealth of economic data releases, highlighted by growth, trade and production. Commodity demand has boosted associated currencies but the rising reserve has tempered gains. The AUD is now testing 0.7800, on the downside, while the NZD broke below 0.7300. This is a function of the USD rather than domestic drivers. Look for economic data to drive the market narrative, with a special focus on growth, inflation and interest rates. ... read more | |
