Unlocking value across the container logistics supply chain

Transport inefficiencies that start at the terminal gate have a flow-on effect right across the container logistics supply chain, trapping value and depressing profitability for all involved.

But it doesn't have to be this way.

Connecting the community of container depots and terminals, cargo owners, shipping lines, and road transporters, Containerchain solutions support synchronised communication and operational predictability.

Features include real-time paperless tracking,frictionless information exchange, process automation, and optimised asset utilisation - as well as total container movement visibility for more proactive planning. The result is lowered cost of operations and improved profitability for one of the world's most essential industries.

Unlock more value from your business today.

Global Finance Report

Weekly Market Commentary
US Non-Farm Payrolls beat expectations and equity markets surged to regain the previous days losses. The Unemployment rate fell to 3.8% and average earnings rose 0.3%. This is a green light for the Fed, adding weight to the prospects of further interest rate rises, supporting a stronger Dollar. Meanwhile the tariff war is heating up, with retaliatory sanctions threatened from Canada, Mexico and the EU. NOKO looks to be back on again, as a Peace Conference appears to be back on the table. All of this maneuvering, with regards treaties and trade negotiations, is exactly where Trump wants to be! He is in his element and markets are fully aware of this.

Employment numbers have given support to the Dollar, while the Italian Political crises has settled, allowing the status quo in currencies. The Populist Five Star/Northern League coalition were allowed to form Government after assurances over EU membership but this is dangerously tenuous. The Spanish right-wing leader has been forced to resign following a corruption scandal. The new Socialist, minority leader is extremely vulnerable and both of these developments are hardly stabilising? The EUR traded 1.1650, while the GBP regained 1.3340. The coming week has a plethora of global trade data which will be window-dressing for the global trade negotiations underway. The US is heavily involved in trade arbitration with NAFTA, China and the EU. These diplomatic moves are directly linked to Peace Talks with NOKO and Iran.

Commodity currencies have out-performed in the last week, with the NZD regaining 0.7000, while the AUD heads toward 0.7600. This has been a symptom of the Dollar moves and is likely to continue. The Dollar regained support with the employment numbers, pushing the local currencies lower, to close the week. Geo-Politics are likely to dominate markets, in the coming week, whether it be trade or NOKO or Iran?? Who knows?... read more

INDUSTRY OPINION: Cyber criminals and the turmoil caused to logistics businesses

Paul Zalai & James Cotis - FTA / APSA
DCN - Monday 4 June 2018

When discussing these incidents with the FTA members, recurring themes were evident:

  • They were shocked that the incidents had happened;

  • They were convinced that their risk management systems and processes were adequate to prevent attacks such as these and used words like "robust", "foolproof", "bulletproof" and "couldn't happen" to describe their systems and the likelihood of a successful fraud against them;

  • Their existing information technology service providers did not possess the necessary skills and experienced to be of much help. ... read more
