The forum is the result of a collaboration between the Tasmanian Logistics Committee and the Freight and Trade Alliance.

Tasmanian Logistics Committee chair Brett Charlton said there had been "plenty of good news stories regarding freight" since last the 2018 forum.

"The investments made by Tasmanian shipping lines with their new vessels are a true reflection of the current confidence in Tasmanian export and this has been achieved on the back of a solid and efficient freight and logistics sector," he said.

But Mr Charlton said there may be some storm clouds on the horizon, including the transition of the global shipping fleets to low sulphur fuel in response to concerns about climate change and emissions.

"Tasmania, like the rest of Australia, relies on international shipping to get our produce to markets and there will be additional cost when the global shipping fleet commence using the low sulphur fuels," he said.

"Our committee and the FTA have been working with the Australian Maritime College to explore this issue further and we intend to prepare a briefing document to the shipping industry and government to highlight these challenges."and Minister for Trade Will Hodgman will provide the keynote address at the forum.

The Tasmanian Freight and Logistics Forum will be held at the University of Tasmania Newnham campus from 9am to 5pm on June 26.
