Study & tender - freight connectivity in regional NSW

Monday, February 22, 2021

The NSW Government remains focused on improving regional freight linkages to help our farmers and regional communities get our world-class produce to domestic and international markets as efficiently as possible.

Starting in 2019, the NSW Government commissioned an independent, pre-feasibility study into international air freight connectivity in regional NSW.

Findings from the study showed further investigation was required around the current use of the freight network and supply chain, industry engagement and an economic, commercial and financial evaluation.

Given the impacts of COVID-19 on both the global and domestic freight networks, this work is more important than ever to ensure our farmers can get their produce to market as smoothly and quickly as possible.

As part of these investigations into the supply chain, we are now progressing to a 'Registration of Interest' (ROI) process.

The ROI is seeking to identify the key constraints regional freight and supply chains face and how these could be improved through enabling infrastructure.

The ROI is open to submissions from private industry and councils across regional NSW.

A non-mandatory online briefing session will be held on Wednesday 3 March 2021 from 1pm-2pm. Respondents must register to attend the briefing by emailing snowyhydrofund@regional.nsw.gov.au by 5:00pm on Tuesday 2 March 2021.

Full details of the ROI are available on the NSW Government's eTendering website.

The ROI closes at 10am AEDT Wednesday, 24 March 2021.
