RAMPING UP MAINSTREAM COVERAGE OF SHIPPING DELAYS

ADVOCATING FOR CONTINUATION OF IFAM - FTA AND APSA COLLABORATE WITH THE NATIONAL FARMERS FEDERATION

We are escalating advocacy for extension of the International Freight Assistance Mechanism (IFAM) beyond 30 June 2021 as an emergency measure to ensure commercially viable access to market for Australian exporters of perishable commodities. According to Austrade, approximately 35,000 jobs directly and over 120,000 jobs indirectly in the agriculture, seafood, and aviation and logistics sectors are at risk if airfreight supply chains fail - READ MORE

KHAPRA BEETLE INFORMATION SESSIONS

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment  are implementing urgent actions to protect Australia against the entry of khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) including the targeting of a range of plant products that are hosts of this pest and sea containers in which khapra beetle can hitchhike. The urgent actions are being implemented in phases.

The department expects to implement Phase 6a on 12 April, 2020. Phase 6a will result in changes to the management of sea containers. You can learn more at: awe.gov.au/khapra-urgent-actions
