ADVOCACY UPDATE - UNFAIR CONTAINER DETENTION PRACTICES

Wednesday, April 13, 2022
In response to our advocacy update from 8 April 2022, we would like to thank Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) members who have provided evidence of unfair container detention practices administered by foreign owned shipping lines.

Whilst this provides us with a good foundation in preparing a supplementary submission to the review of Australia's Maritime Logistics System, we are seeking further evidence that we can share with the Productivity Commission to back up the claims in our original submission - refer HERE

To maximise the effectiveness of the evidence, we request full details and importantly, your exchanges of information with shipping lines. We also request your consent to share this detail with the Productivity Commission.

Please rest assured that this detail will not be shared in any public submission or with any other members.

Should members still have concerns in sharing this level of information, we would also welcome summarised / redacted detail outlining relevant scenarios.

Please send details to Tony Vinson (Head of International Freight and Logistics – FTA/APSA) at avinson@FTAlliance.com.au by Friday 29 April 2022.
