CONTINUED BIOSECURITY COMPETENCY (CBC)

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has issued Industry Advice Notice 122/2023 with key dates and information for the 2023-24 CBC.

The CBC pre-recorded webinar will be made available on the department's Learnhub platform from Wednesday 6 September 2023 and must be completed by Wednesday 18 October 2023.

Please NOTE it is essential that you log in and set up your Learnhub account prior the session goes live and  complete the topic "Introduction to Learnhub" before September's scheduled activity.

 


MANDATORY CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) MODULE

The Australian Border Force (ABF) have advised under the updated Australian Customs Notice No. 2023/23 that the mandatory CPD module is now available for completion.

ALL licensed customs brokers must complete this mandatory module by 31 March 2024

Please NOTE it is ONLY available via the ABF Australian Trusted Trader (ATT) training portal - read more.

Clarification of requirements for refund applications under ChAFTA

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) have been in receipt of instances where customs brokers have raised queries in relation to applications for refund under ChAFTA.

The Customs Act provides that goods are taken to be imported when the import declaration is lodged. The rate of duty is that applicable at the time of lodgement. READ MORE

Voluntary Disclosures - UPDATE

On 3 August 2023 the Voluntary Disclosures unit of the  Australian Border Force (ABF) updated their web page to provide clarity around these actions. Some of the matters addressed are;

  • Definition of Voluntary Disclosure

  • Eligibility for protection from  penalties and prosecution

  • Submitting a Voluntary Disclosure

  • Amendments to declarations

  • Line amendments
