2023 REVIEW OF THE NATIONAL FREIGHT AND SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGY

Monday, August 21, 2023

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) would like to inform members that the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (the Department) are calling for submissions as part of the 2023 Review of the National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy (the Strategy).

The Strategy was released in 2019 and designed to position Australia to meet its growing freight needs. The current strategy was agreed to by governments with extensive input from industry. In the last four years, supply chains have encountered unparalleled and accumulating disturbances, which encompassed a worldwide pandemic, severe weather occurrences, shortages in skills, and other challenges.
A closer look at how the Strategy came about can be found HERE.

The 2023 Review provides a critical opportunity to take stock of what has changed and what has been achieved since 2019. It will help build a more effective Strategy that is better equipped to address Australia's growing and changing freight task. The review will assess if there are gaps in the Strategy's goals and identify priorities for the next five-year National Action Plan.

The Department are welcoming industry engagement and an opportunity to make a submission in response to a Discussion Paper to help reshape the refreshed Strategy.
For any questions, the Department can be contacted via email:
