Tom Jensen, FTA was proud to have been involved in the Gambaro Prostate Cancer Care Lunch 2023 as a guest of Kyle Rogers & Malec - Logistics .

A great afternoon raising money for a very worthy cause with over $300k raised in just a matter of hours.

CONTINUED BIOSECURITY COMPETENCY (CBC)

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has issued Industry Advice Notice 122/2023 with key dates and information for the 2023-24 CBC.

The CBC pre-recorded webinar will be made available on the department's Learnhub platform from Wednesday 6 September 2023 and must be completed by Wednesday 18 October 2023.

Please NOTE it is essential that you log in and set up your Learnhub account prior the session goes live and  complete the topic "Introduction to Learnhub" before September's scheduled activity.

 


MANDATORY CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) MODULE

The Australian Border Force (ABF) have advised under the updated Australian Customs Notice No. 2023/23 that the mandatory CPD module is now available for completion.

ALL licensed customs brokers must complete this mandatory module by 31 March 2024

Flight Caps and a curfew at Brisbane Airport

In a new threat to the ability of Australians to travel affordably, the Greens have today announced their plans to introduce flights caps and a curfew on Brisbane Airport, scuttling Brisbane's only Qatar service, plus thousands of other flights each year. This proposal will no doubt also impact the amount of cargo space available to Australian importers and exporters.  READ MORE.

The Department has advised industry that the Cargo Snapshot is currently under review for suitability and context.

While this review is undertaken the distribution of the snapshot will be paused.

BMSB Season UPDATE

The 2023 - 24 Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) season has commenced and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry have issued the below Industry Notice to highlight the changes for this season. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forstry are developing actions to realise the vision of the National Biosecurity Strategy(External link). You can now share your ideas on actions for 2 of the priority areas of the National Biosecurity Strategy, which are foundational for implementation. These are:

  • Priority Area 1: Shared biosecurity culture

  • Priority Area 2: Stronger partnerships.
