GSF Statement in Response to Announcement of the Gemini Co-operation by Maersk and Hapag Lloyd.

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received advice announcing the Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd intention to form a new operational agreement, to be called Gemini Cooperation, effective from February 2025.

For all practical purposes, FTA and APSA understand this is a new 'alliance' between the second and fourth largest container shipping lines in the world - see their joint Media Release available HERE

As outlined in the webinar we hosted yesterday with James Hookham, as head of the Global Shippers Forum (GSF), alliances and global shipping competition reform are significant policy matters for the GSF, FTA and APSA - recording available HERE upon registration.

Following the above overnight Gemini Cooperation announcement, James has provided  comment with additional notes from FTA / APSA - refer HERE
