Import Prohibition on Engineered Stone
Following bilateral engagement between the Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Border Force (ABF) and the recent budget announcement regarding an import prohibition on engineered stone, advice has been received that the details of the import prohibition (including timing) is still under consideration by the federal government (including consultation with states and territories). It is anticipated that reform will take place sometime in early 2025, noting the ABF is working with whole-of-government partners to ensure timing of the import prohibition minimises the impact on jurisdictional transitional arrangements. The ABF has given a commitment to maintain close ongoing engagement with FTA and other key stakeholders to support the eventual implementation of the Import Prohibition.

was thrilled with the turnout for the 77G and Approved Arrangement Forum last Wednesday in Melbourne. There was a diverse group of industry participants eagerly engaging and learning. It was an invaluable opportunity to hear directly from industry experts and regulators from the
Australian Border Force
and
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
.
A big thank you to all our speakers and attendees for making this event a tremendous success. Looking forward to continuing these important conversations and fostering stronger industry collaboration.

Tom Jensen, Head of International Freight & Logistics | FTA/APSA
recently caught up with
Nathan Dakin
at Michael Hill's headquarters in Brisbane.
While we all know them for their fine jewellery, their state-of-the-art facility and in-house expertise in customs and logistics make them a formidable force in the logistics landscape as well.
It was great to chat with Nathan and share industry insights. We discussed the benefits of being a highly reputable trusted trader and the additional advantages brought by recent agreements like the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA).
