FTA launches Regulated Cargo Facility membership


At the Depot and Approved Arrangement forum held in Brisbane, today 11 June 2024, FTA announced the expansion of dedicated member benefits to all regulated cargo facility businesses. 

This comes on the back of the recent well attended Depot and Approved Arrangement forums held in Sydney, Melbourne & Perth at which attendees expressed an overwhelming demand for support. READ MORE

FTA / APSA submission to the NSW Freight Policy Reform & PBLIS Final Report Recommendations

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have provided detailed submissions to Transport for NSW (TfNSW) incorporating extensive member feedback into the two critical documents:

1. NSW Freight Policy Reform Consultation Paperand 

2. Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy (PBLIS) Review Final Report Recommendations.

Review of the Customs (Australian Trusted Trader Programme) Rule 2015 

Australian Trusted Trader (ATT) program is currently seeking feedback on the next evolution of the program, informally referred to as ATT 2.0. This also includes a review of the Customs (Australian Trusted Trader Programme) Rule 2015 (the ATT Rule 2015). 

 

Accredited Trusted Traders are encouraged to provide feedback direct to the Australian Border Force (ABF) using a writable PDF and sending this to TrustedTrader@abf.gov.au by Friday 21 June 2024, or provide commentary to Sal Milici for inclusion in the FTA submission.

Corwin International  - Mascot catch up

Great catching up with good friend Ubetta/Corwin xiang last week in Mascot - that area sure has changed over the years. As one of China's leading freight forwarders, Ubetta provided some fascinating insights to what is happening in the logistics space back in China, that as we all know flows through the supply chain to Australia.

Also congratulations to Corwin International Logistics(Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. for their successful Australian bulk project deliveries.

National Grain Freight Strategy - Launch

Also managed to catch up face to face with David Claughton - executive producer of Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Country Hour, who has interviewed me on a number of occasions over the years.

Paul Zalai, Director & Co-founder of the Freight & Trade Alliance  | Secretariat of the Australian Peak Shippers Association was privileged to be invited to Grain Growers Limited launch of their impressive "National Grain Freight Strategy" - we particularly look forward to collaboration on reform to container terminal charges and repeal of Part X CCA

Victorian Freight Plan Industry Summit

Last week Sal Milici, General Manager Trade Policy & Operations | FTA / APSA was privileged to have been invited to attend the Victorian Freight Plan Industry Summit. As a member of the select Industry Stakeholder Reference Group, Sal was honoured to participate in a panel session and took the opportunity to share some of the challenges and opportunities in front of the international logistics sector.

OOCL Brisbane

Tom Jensen, Manager International Freight & Logistics, FTA | APSA recently caught up with Ajaz Mir, QLD State Manager at OOCL and QLD Chair of Shipping Australia Limited. OOCL have been busy of late looking at improving efficiencies for their customers. Most notably with the announcement of containers now being accessible through to ICD Moorebank for customers in and around western Sydney.

Retired Brokers' luncheon - Save the Date

This annual event to celebrate old friendships,camaraderie and no doubt some tall tales will again be held at the Harbour View Hotel, Lower Fort Street,The Rocks on Thursday 26 September, 2024. More information will be sent out in early August.

RENEWAL OF CUSTOMS BROKER LICENCES - ABF UPDATE

As a part of direct engagement with the Australian Border Force (ABF) on Saturday 20 April 2024, advice has been received that due to a number of factors it is likely that customs brokers will NOT receive their 'Application for renewal of Customs Broker Licence' renewal packs until mid to late May. READ MORE

2024-2025 FTA ONLINE CPD & CBC TRAINING PACKAGES

FTA offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continued Biosecurity Competency (CBC) training online for the customs broker licencing period 1 April to 31 March each year. The cost of an online training package is $150 (excl. gst) for member organisations with bulk discounts available on a sliding scale.

Licensed customs brokers not employed by a corporate FTA member, can purchase an Individual Membership which includes online CPD & CBC training for the cost of only $300 (excl. gst) per customs broker licensing period.
 



FTA LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE TRAINING PLATFORM - "MYFTACPD"

FTA is delighted to announce the new training platform "MYFTACPD" is now LIVE.

The upgraded platform provides:

  • the removal of the need for promotional codes with personal profile libraries automatically populated with current course content through the customs broker licensing period
  • high quality training content and resources;
  • secure and easy to use 'self-service' login functionality;
  • migration of previous history from the legacy system allowing licensed customs brokers to access their online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Attainment Statements for the current and previous periods;
