Air Cargo Week - E-Commerce faces Australian Hurdles

The FTA and APSA positions were supported by major producer groups and appear to have been a significant contributing factor to the federal government not progressing to vote on the Agriculture (Biosecurity Protection) Levies Bill 2024 [Provisions] and Related Bills.

FTA / APSA - ADVOCACY

Review of the Customs (Australian Trusted Trader Programme) Rule 2015 

Australian Trusted Trader (ATT) program is currently seeking feedback on the next evolution of the program, informally referred to as ATT 2.0. This also includes a review of the Customs (Australian Trusted Trader Programme) Rule 2015 (the ATT Rule 2015). 

 

Accredited Trusted Traders are encouraged to provide feedback direct to the Australian Border Force (ABF) using a writable PDF and sending this to TrustedTrader@abf.gov.au by Friday 21 June 2024, or provide commentary to Sal Milici for inclusion in the FTA submission.

Postponement of Biosecurity Protection Levies - Domestic Producers & E-Commerce Cargo Reporters

While the Domestic Producer levy will not proceed on 1 July 2024, the concept remains alive with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) to progress renewed discussions with FTA, APSA and other peak industry bodies as a part of the recently established Sustainable Biosecurity Funding Advisory Panel

As outlined in Import Industry Advice Notice 119-2024, implementation of this new charge (e-commerce cargo reporter levy) will now commence on 1 October 2024 with the intent to provide sufficient time for DAFF to engage with industry to address outstanding concerns in administering the arrangements.

Depot & Approved Arrangement Forum - Brisbane

RENEWAL OF CUSTOMS BROKER LICENCES - ABF UPDATE

As a part of direct engagement with the Australian Border Force (ABF) on Saturday 20 April 2024, advice has been received that due to a number of factors it is likely that customs brokers will NOT receive their 'Application for renewal of Customs Broker Licence' renewal packs until mid to late May. READ MORE

2024-2025 FTA ONLINE CPD & CBC TRAINING PACKAGES

FTA offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continued Biosecurity Competency (CBC) training online for the customs broker licencing period 1 April to 31 March each year. The cost of an online training package is $150 (excl. gst) for member organisations with bulk discounts available on a sliding scale.

Licensed customs brokers not employed by a corporate FTA member, can purchase an Individual Membership which includes online CPD & CBC training for the cost of only $300 (excl. gst) per customs broker licensing period.
 



FTA LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE TRAINING PLATFORM - "MYFTACPD"

FTA is delighted to announce the new training platform "MYFTACPD" is now LIVE.

The upgraded platform provides:

  • the removal of the need for promotional codes with personal profile libraries automatically populated with current course content through the customs broker licensing period
  • high quality training content and resources;
  • secure and easy to use 'self-service' login functionality;
  • migration of previous history from the legacy system allowing licensed customs brokers to access their online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Attainment Statements for the current and previous periods;

Due to a planned system upgrade, domestic invoicing will be processed later this week rather than the usual weekly distribution cycle of Tuesday (18 June 2024). The upgrade includes a new invoice format, which simplifies how AWB details are presented on your invoice

Check your BMSB Heat Treatment certificates

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) wish to advise that the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has issued Industry Advice Notice 127-2024 advising of a numbers of heat treatments conducted by 'approved' offshore treatment providers on the List of Treatment Providers that did not meet the DAFF's BMSB treatment requirements.READ MORE
