Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) wish to inform members of the announcement by the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) of its inquiry into the
Transport Security Amendment (Security of Australia's Transport Sector) Bill 2024
. The PJCIS invites submissions to the inquiry by
Thursday, 13 February 2025
.
Members are encouraged to review the Bill and provide feedback to

2024-2025 FTA ONLINE CPD & CBC TRAINING PACKAGES
FTA offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continued Biosecurity Competency (CBC) training
online
for the customs broker licencing period 1 April to 31 March each year. The cost of an online training package is $150 (excl. gst) for member organisations with bulk discounts available on a sliding scale.
Licensed customs brokers
not
employed by a corporate FTA member, can purchase an Individual Membership which includes online CPD & CBC training for the cost of only $300 (excl. gst) per customs broker licensing period.

The DAFF Mandatory CBC Activity 24-25/01 (CPD0215)
will go live on
17 February 2025
on the Department's
Learnhub
site. The assessment will be automatically made available on the FTA training platform "MYFTACPD" under the 'Active" filter for FTA members that attended a 2024 CPD Border Compliance Program (complimentary) or for those that have purchased an online training package for the period ending 31 March 2025. You will be sent an email when the assessment has been uploaded for completion. The Assessment must be completed by
Monday 17 March 2025.
In preparation for the upcoming CBC Activity, we recommend that you ensure that you have current access to the Learnhub site.

DAFF have advised that the Mandatory CBC Activity 24-25/01 (CPD0215) will provide you with
2 CPD Points in Stream A
. Please ensure you take this into consideration when completing your 30 CPD points for the customs broker licencing period 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.

Scheduled Berth Maintenance at Fremantle Container Terminals
Fremantle Ports have advised of upcoming essential maintenance at both container terminals - DP World and Patrick - to ensure continued safety and operational efficiency at Fremantle Port. Please see below for the anticipated dates, along with an attached maintenance schedule diagram:

During these shutdowns, the reduced quay length may affect vessel scheduling and processing times at both terminals. We are committed to minimising disruptions and will keep you informed of any changes.

Fremantle: What does our port city look like without its port?
The skyline-dominating red-and-white cranes will make way for six unique precincts, including medium and high density residential areas accommodating 20,000 new homes and 55,000 new residents.

Outage to the ICS - Saturday 8 February
On Saturday 08 February 2025 the Department's internet service provider is implementing essential upgrades, which will require two short outages to all client-facing CCF/ICS services, including EDI messaging and web application access.
The outages are expected to be about 15 to 30 minutes each,
beginning at 14:00 (AEDT) and 18:00 (AEDT) respectively.
