SAFE CONTAINER LOADING
&
TRANSPORT PRACTICES SEMINAR SERIES

*** OPEN FOR REGISTRATION ***

Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA), together with Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA)Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA)CoRsafe, and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) are hosting a series of half-day Best Practice Seminars across Australia on Safe Container Loading & Transport Practices aimed to bring together container logistics stakeholders to discuss:

  • Latest advice, updates & resources on safe container loading, unloading & transport practices; and
  • Commercial & safety dangers of poorly packed, overloaded or unrestrained cargoes inside shipping containers.

Did you know that a heavy vehicle carrying a laden shipping container is 30% more likely to be involved in a roll-over incident due to unbalanced or insecurely restrained cargo within the container?

Unbalanced, poorly restrained and mis-declared containerised cargoes not only increase vessel and land transport safety risks but have the potential to be commercially very costly if the cargo is damaged or contributes to a safety incident.

All parties in the logistics chain, including importers and exporters, have legal obligations to ensure the safe loading, cargo restraint, transport, and unloading of shipping containers, as well as accurate gross weight declarations.

While subcontracting may reduce your direct operational control over transport activities, it does not exempt you, particularly as an importer or exporter, from potential legal responsibility under Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations

You still have a duty of care to ensure that all parties involved in the transport process comply with safety standards, whether the transport is handled in-house or outsourced.

(The Seminar Series is being run in collaboration with a Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI) administered by the NHVR on behalf of the Commonwealth Government)
