1. FIATA Contribute to Emergent Africa
Emergent Africa, a novel by Mr Calestous Juma, Harvard, and Dr Francis Mangeni, COMESA, will be released this year. FIATA has contributed to the novel from the private sector's perspective citing relevant examples in the industry.
The novel argues that unlike other integration initiatives that focus almost entirely on trade, Africa's efforts include infrastructure development and industrialisation. The integration is a way to facilitate development by consolidating national and regional markets to reap the benefits of larger economies. Trade is thus viewed as a tool for promoting prosperity through industrial development. One could argue that some of the concepts contained in the book are also present in many FIATA position papers.
