CEO WELCOME
________________

Welcome to November's edition of Port of Brisbane News.

Thank you to our customers and stakeholders for attending Port of Brisbane's End of Year Forum earlier this month. It was a great opportunity to provide an update on our major projects, initiatives and partnerships, and to share with you the first-look of the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal as well as our business highlights.

Over 200 people participated in our first Pulse Check Survey, to be held annually to enable customers and stakeholders to provide us with valuable feedback and ensure we continue to deliver for you. For each completed survey, we will donate $50 to our 2018 Employee Charity, Drought Angels, who do important work supporting Australian farmers and their communities.

If you would like more details about anything in this edition of Port of Brisbane News, please contact us on 07 3258 4888.

________________

We are continuing to make great progress on south-east Queensland's first mega cruise ship terminal – a key piece of national infrastructure to help support the state's booming tourism industry.

Earlier this month Minister for State Development, Cameron Dick MP, and PBPL CEO, Roy Cummins, officially launched a fly-through of the new facility.  Watch the video here.

Construction activities for the $158 million Brisbane International Cruise Terminal remain on track to start early in the New Year, with Principal Contractors expected to be announced shortly.   Visit our website for more information.

CUSTOMER IN FOCUS
________________

Patrick continues to prosper as it heads into its 100th year.  The business is gearing up for ongoing expansion in 2019, having grown its client base through exceptional service levels and the innovative nature of its landside interface.

Patrick has recently promoted a number of operational employees into permanent roles, and is looking to increase the size of its workforce with the addition of further permanent part-time employees.

Patrick also looks forward to welcoming two new WILpower cadets early next year as part of its initiative to boost the participation of women in stevedoring management, a programme pioneered in Brisbane.

Work is also continuing for a new ship-to-shore gantry crane and enhanced autostrads, with orders due to be placed in the coming months.  For more local information, please click here

BUNNINGS EXPANDS ITS FOOTPRINT
________________

This month, we announced the 10,000m2 expansion of the Bunnings Warehouse at the Port West Industrial Estate.  The expansion will incorporate 800m2 of dedicated container hardstand and 2,200m2 of cantilevered awning area, and is expected to be completed by mid-2019.

In other property news, Tomkins Commercial will undertake the design-and-construct project to build the new Silk Contract Logistics Warehouse on the 56,560 square-metre site on Fisherman Islands. Construction is expected to start early-2019.

INDUSTRY'S NIGHT OF NIGHTS
________________

We were pleased to receive a number of High Commendations at the recent Australian Shipping & Maritime Industry awards held in Sydney last week.

Our Marine Maintenance, Marine Crew and Health & Safety teams were recognised for their innovative approach in designing the Safe Access Stairs on the Frank Wilson vessel and our work with Mission to Seafarers at the Port of Brisbane was also acknowledged.

Congratulations to our customers and stakeholders who were recognised at the awards, and to all finalists and winners.  As a port community, Brisbane is truly leading the way in terms of safety, service and innovation.

SEAGRASS IS THRIVING
________________

A rich diversity of marine seagrass is thriving in waters at the Port of Brisbane, in and adjacent to the Moreton Bay RAMSAR wetlands.

The latest Seagrass Report provides
a scientific snap shot across three areas of western Moreton Bay, including Waterloo Bay (immediately adjacent to the Port of Brisbane) and two control sites at Manly and Cleveland.  Seagrass is vital to support biodiversity, fisheries and our global carbon cycle.
