FEATURE ARTICLE

Thank you once again to the Victoria International Container Terminal  (VICT) for their article "CLOSING THE GAP - automation can help" as a part of our women in logistics feature in our Summer edition of  Across Borders.

"Undeniably, the transport and logistics sector has a gender imbalance with women making up just 16 percent of the workforce, but VICT is working hard to change that by working with industry groups such as Wayfinder to inform young females about job opportunities. Currently, 55% of VICT's managers are women, which is encouraging to see females in leadership positions."

MHD - Jan / Feb 2019 - PREPARE FIOR A HIT

By Travis Brooks-Garrett - FTA / APSA

New shipping line regulations will hit supply chain costs hard in 2019

"Our biggest concern is that this will be a 'cost plus margin' scenario where the shipping lines use this new regulation as a revenue opportunity, not as a true cost recovery exercise.

FTA and APSA have held meetings with the Registrar of Shipping in Canberra to better understand how the department and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) will be monitoring the compliance of shipping lines" .

Global Finance Report

Weekly Market Commentary

The huge recovery global equity markets are experiencing in the 2019 year is suffering an interruption. There has been media reports that the US/China Trade negotiations are not going to meet the deadline. Key Trump advisor, Larry Kudlow has stated that there is a 'sizable way to go'. Trump remains confident of an agreement but there is no scheduled summit between himself and President Xi. The failure to reach agreement is a direct threat to global growth and is therefore impacting markets. The Fed has come to the party, but the threat to global growth remains a subject of speculation. ... read more
