Qantas Freight (Melbourne Airport) - closure 6 August 2020

Thursday, August 6, 2020

Further to Tuesday's operational update of cargo terminal operations at Melbourne Airport, Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received advice that Qantas Freight has paused operations in their Melbourne freight terminals in response to advice from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.

Terminals will remain closed until at least midnight tonight, 6 Aug 2020 and freight cannot be lodged or collected at either terminal.

A small number of urgent medical domestic shipments may be able to be sent into Melbourne and we understand that companies this applies to have been notified. International IFAM flights into and out of Melbourne scheduled for 6 Aug 2020 will have shipper-loaded units cleared at the Menzies facilities. Outbound flights for 6 Aug 2020 are

  • QF29 MELHKG (postponed from 5 Aug 2020) - scheduled departure 11:25
  • QF35 MELSIN - scheduled departure 15:55

Qantas Freight are working closely with the department to ensure they can resume operations as soon as possible.
