UPDATE 9 - Victorian State of Disaster - warehouse operations and High Risk COVIDSafe Plan

Warehouse and Distribution Centres - Business Operating Reductions
Stage 4 restrictions

What are the new restrictions for warehouse and distribution centres?

From 1:59 am on Saturday 8 August the following changes will need to be adopted by Melbourne warehouse and distribution centres.

Each warehouse and distribution centres will:
  • enact a High Risk COVIDSafe Plan focused on safety, prevention and response if coronavirus cases are linked to their workplace
  • increase the regularity of deep cleaning
  • enforce the wearing of face coverings by staff on site
  • where practicable COVIDSafe Plans should be designed with input from employees and their representatives. 
In addition, from 11:59 pm on Sunday 9 August Melbourne warehouse and distribution centres will:
  • reduce the number of people in the workplace. 
Are the restrictions for warehouse and distribution centres the same in regional Victoria as they are in metropolitan Melbourne?

The restrictions do not apply to other warehouse and distribution centres in regional Victoria.

Are there any exceptions to the reduced operations requirement?

Yes, there are the following exceptions:
  • Supermarket warehouses and distribution centres are covered separately.
  • Warehouses and distribution centres with perishable food apply the same requirements as supermarket warehouses.
  • Warehouses and distribution centres that are licensed under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981 for the supply of medicines listed under Schedules 2, 3, 4, and 8 are exempt from the requirement on level of operation (operating with no more than 67 per cent of their daily peak and daily total workforce). 
Warehouses and distribution centres that distribute medical devices and consumables that are registered on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) are exempt from the requirement on level of operation (operating with no more than 67 per cent of their daily peak and daily total workforce).
