SA Health has identified exposure locations associated with positive cases of COVID-19 interstate.

    Victoria — Health alert

    If you have been in Victoria in the last 14 days you are not permitted to enter South Australia.

    Certain categories of essential travellers and people fleeing domestic violence are permitted, however they must adhere to the requirements outlined in the Cross Border Travel Direction and apply using the Cross Border Traveller form.

    All other people wishing to travel to SA must apply for approval to enter using the SA Health Essential traveller health exemption form. Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and priority will be given to urgent compassionate applications.

    Victorian cross border community

    The Victorian cross border corridor is 70 km either side of the border, excluding any part of the city of Portland.

    Cross border community members who live within the corridor who are travelling for a permitted purpose may enter SA, provided they have not travelled outside the Victorian cross border corridor and have been associating with people outside the Victorian cross border corridor in the last 14 days.

    Permitted purposes includes for employment or education, to provide or receive care and support from another person, for recreational or competitive sport, to obtain food, fuel, medical care and supplies or COVID-19 vaccination.

    Cross border community members entering SA who are ordinarily resident in the Victorian cross border corridor must be able to produce evidence of having received at least one dose of a TGA approved COVID-19 vaccination, unless they have a medical certificate stating they are exempt.

    The medical certificate must be from a legally qualified medical practitioner certifying that the person has a medical exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine on either a permanent or temporary basis, in accordance with guidelines from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation.

    New South Wales  Health alert

    If you have been in New South Wales in the last 14 days you are not permitted to enter South Australia.

    Certain categories of essential travellers, people fleeing domestic violence and Commonwealth MPs are also permitted, however they must adhere to the requirements outlined in the Cross Border Travel Direction and apply using the Cross Border Traveller form.

    All other people wishing to travel to SA must apply for approval to enter using the SA Health Essential traveller health exemption form. Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and priority will be given to urgent compassionate applications.

      Transit through NSW

      NSW cross border community

      The NSW cross border corridor includes the local government area of Broken Hill and township of Silverton in NSW and the townships of Manna Hill, Olary, Tikalina and Cockburn in SA.

      Cross border community members who live within the corridor may enter SA, provided they have not travelled outside the corridor or have associated with a person from outside the corridor in the last 14 days.

      Cross border community members entering SA who are ordinarily resident in the NSW cross border corridor must be able to produce evidence of having received at least one dose of a TGA approved COVID-19 vaccination, unless they have a medical certificate stating they are exempt.

      The medical certificate must be from a legally qualified medical practitioner certifying that the person has a medical exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine on either a permanent or temporary basis, in accordance with guidelines from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation.

      Australian Capital Territory — Health alert

      If you have been in ACT in the last 14 days you are not permitted to enter South Australia.

      Certain essential travellers, people fleeing domestic violence and Commonwealth MPs are also permitted, however they must adhere to the requirements outlined in the Cross Border Travel Direction and apply using the Cross Border Traveller form.

      All other people wishing to travel to SA must apply for approval to enter using the SA Health Essential traveller health exemption form. Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and priority will be given to urgent compassionate applications.

      If you are a returning SA resident who has completed 14 days in a supervised quarantine facility in ACT, you must also apply to enter using the SA Health Essential traveller health exemption form.

      Upon arrival to SA, travellers from ACT must:

      • quarantine for 14 days, this may be at a medi-hotel
      • get a COVID-19 test as soon as possible
      • get tested on day 5 and day 13 of quarantine.

      Queensland — Health alert

      Arrival from Queensland after 4.00 pm 15 October 2021

      From 4.00 pm 15 October 2021, there are no testing or quarantine requirements if you are entering SA from Queensland.

      Arrival from City of Brisbane, Moreton Bay Regional Council, City of Gold Coast or Logan City Council before 4.00 pm 15 October 2021

      If you entered SA before 4.00pm 15 October 2021 and have been in City of Brisbane, Moreton Bay Regional Council, City of Gold Coast or Logan City Council in the last 14 days, you must:

      • get a COVID-19 test as soon as possible and quarantine until you receive a negative result.
      • get tested again on day 5 and day 13 after arrival.
      • not attend a COVID Management Plan event for 14 days after your arrival.
      • not enter a high risk setting for 14 days after your arrival, unless you meet requirements to be permitted (i.e. urgent medical care or end of life visit). High risk settings include disability and aged care or correctional facilities and an emergency department, intensive care unit, respiratory ward or oncology ward of a private or public hospital.

        Arrival from a Queensland exposure location

        If you are currently in South Australia and visited any exposure locations on the Queensland Health website at the specified dates and times, you should:

        • quarantine immediately
        • get tested as soon as possible
        • complete this form to notify SA Health that you were at this location and receive additional advice on your testing and quarantine requirements.

        Tasmania — Health alert

        If you are currently in South Australia and visited any exposure locations on the Tasmanian Government website at the specified dates and times, you should:

        • quarantine immediately
        • get tested as soon as possible
        • complete this form to notify SA Health that you were at this location and receive additional advice on your testing and quarantine requirements.
