Invite to the new Biosecurity Portal - Webinar information sessions

Friday, May 6, 2022

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) wish to advise that the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) is making it easier for approved arrangements operators, importers, and customs brokers to create and manage import inspection bookings at any time in a self-serve, online location – the Biosecurity Portal.

The Portal will save you time and give you greater certainty and visibility of your import inspection booking requests and AIMS directions, making it easier than ever to get cargo smoothly into Australia.

The Portal will replace the existing manual forms and email process that you currently utilise, with an integrated online form that can auto populate many of the input fields for you.

At this stage, clients who require bulk booking or airway bill requests, operate manned depots, or do not have an ABN cannot use the Biosecurity Portal and should use the existing email-based system.

Getting Ready

The Portal (https://www.awe.gov.au/biosecurity-trade/import/online-services/biosecurity-portal/about) has already been implemented for booking import inspections at Queensland, Northern Territory and South Australia, New South Wales and ACT sites.

Over 800 bookings have been requested via the portal, to-date.

The Portal is now going live for Western Australia sites on 23 May 2022.

We are reaching out to you to start getting ready for the Western Australia release.

Introduction Webinar

The department has established a team to assist you with setting up and using the Portal.

They are planning a 30 minute webinar session (via MS-Teams) to provide you with an overview of the Portal and highlight the key steps your organisation will need to undertake to get ready prior to being able to access the Portal.

Two sessions are scheduled for you to choose from (you only have to attend one):

11:30 am Monday 16 May 2022
11:30 am Wednesday 18 May 2022

We encourage you to contact the Portal Support Team via the email biosecurityportal@awe.gov.au to express your interest in attending one of these webinar sessions.

They will then email you the link to the MS-Teams webinar session.
