Purpose
To notify exporters that an 'import recommendation' is required for all milk and milk products exported to Indonesia.
Key points
Indonesian importers of milk and milk products must now obtain an 'import recommendation' from the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) prior to obtaining an import permit from the Ministry of Trade.
To obtain an import recommendation, the importer must provide a halal certificate to the MOA. The halal certificate must be issued by a halal certifying body recognized by Indonesia. A link to the recognized certification bodies can be found on the Indonesia dairy Micor page.
Once importers receive the import recommendation, it can be used to apply for an import permit from the Ministry of Trade. The import recommendation can be used anytime within a six-month period.
The import recommendation must be provided on the health certificate accompanying each shipment. Exporters should enter this number in the additional information field when completing the Request for Export (REX) in Next Export Documentation System (NEXDOC).
Failure to include the import recommendation may result in the consignment being detainment by border officials. The department may be unable to facilitate the release.
