Port Authority has had a successful start to the year. In this edition of Port Matters I am delighted to share some of our most exciting updates. Perhaps most significant has been our announcement Port Authority is navigating its way to Net Zero by 2040. A significant element of this commitment is the introduction of Shore Power at Bays Port, which includes Glebe Island and White Bay. It will be the first bulk shipping precinct in the world fully supplied by shore power and the White Bay Cruise Terminal will be the first shore powered cruise berth in the Southern Hemisphere. Our aim is to reduce our emissions by 75 per cent below our 2019 baseline levels by 2030, in line with the NSW Government's objectives. Port Authority has committed to achieve a 75%?reduction in our scope 1 and 2 emissions?by 2030?and Net Zero by 2040. These ambitious and achievable targets meet or exceed the Science Based Targets Initiative aiming to limit global warming to 1.5oC and are in line with the NSW Government's ambitious objectives. In other news, we have also welcomed back the first cruise ship to NSW waters in more than two years to much fanfare and on land we launched a new immersive historic walk along the iconic Macquarie Pier towards Nobby's Lighthouse in Newcastle.
