Svitzer Australia - Fair Work Commission hearing deferred – UPDATE 9

Wednesday, November 16, 2022

Freight & Trade Alliance and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received advice that the Fair Work Commission (FWC) deferred the hearing to 1pm AEDT tomorrow (Thursday 17 November 2022) to determine whether or not to suspend or terminate the protected industrial action (including the lockout by Svitzer Australia of its tug crews nationally).

The Full Bench will hear the current dispute which will extend to Friday morning, if necessary.

The FWC indicated that the intention is for a decision to be made before the commencement of the scheduled lockout at 12pm AEDT, Friday 18 November.

In the meantime, it is important to note that all protected industrial action remains in place.

This includes the lockout and ongoing industrial action already notified by the unions and as outlined in earlier member updates.

FTA / APSA will continue to keep members up to date on pertinent developments.
