Warehouse and Depot Security Identification Card (WADSIC) - UPDATE 4 Moratorium announced

Friday, February 10, 2023

Further to this morning's notice providing extensive detail of the new Warehouse and Depot Security Identification Card (WADSIC), Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) has received a positive response from the Australian Border Force (ABF) to advocacy for an extended moratorium period to allow members sufficient time to meet compliance requirements.

The ABF have confirmed that WADSIC requirements, as prescribed in Australian Customs Notice (ACN) 2022/46, are mandatory effective from 1 April 2023.

We take this opportunity to remind members that WADSICs are a mandatory requirement for every person who is physically present and participating in any of the operations of the Section 77G Depot or Section 79 Warehouse licensed place.

The ABF have clarified that administration staff who do not enter the licensed area, do not need to comply with the WADSIC requirement.

It is important to note that if these staff are not issued with a WADSIC, yet have a need to enter the licensed area, they MUST be signed in like any other visitor.
