Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) have been advised of an upcoming webinar, to be hosted by the Department of Infrastructure (the department), designed to assist manufacturers and importers with the new requirements to come into force on 1 July 2023 for Low ATM Trailers.
From 1 July 2023, you will need to hold a Road Vehicle Standards (RVS) approval before providing a trailer type to the Australian market. For example, caravans and pig trailers.
Under the new RVS laws, every road vehicle (including trailers) will have vehicle and compliance information listed on the Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) publicly-searchable online database, once approved.

The department will provide an overview of the Road Vehicle Standards legislation, including transitional arrangements, with a particular focus on how it applies to trailers with an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) of 4.5 tonnes or less (low ATM trailers). They will talk about the two approval pathways — concessional RAV entry and vehicle type approvals — and eligibility requirements. Component type approvals and quality management systems will also be covered, and you'll have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation.
