Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) is pleased to share its 2022/23 Sustainability Report, detailing our progress towards our 2030 Sustainability Goals and key initiatives undertaken during the year.

PBPL CEO, Neil Stephens, said PBPL had continued to progress its 2030 Sustainability Program, making strong progress in several key initiatives.

"We are continuing to embed sustainability across our business. Our efforts are guided by our Sustainability Program which is at the centre of our business strategy and seeks to add value to our business, our customers, and the community," said Mr Stephens.

"This includes securing our first Sustainability Linked Loan during the year, which commits us to achieving targets across three key areas – emissions reduction, biodiversity, and mental health.

"As a business, we also maintained both our Bronze Accreditation as a Carbon Literate Organisation and our Skilled Workplace Recognition status by Mental Health First Aid Australia.

"Overall, 2022/23 was another solid year for the Port of Brisbane, with a strong trade performance – including a record year for containers reaching 1.56 million TEUs – and a continued growth in property with 30.4ha of land take-up – further facilitating trade and economic growth for Queensland.

"We're also focused on reducing our impact footprint. During 2022/23, we achieved a 49% overall reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions (including offsets) against the previous year.

"Our people have continued to show fantastic initiative and have embraced our sustainability agenda, and I thank them for their commitment and efforts every day.

"We are looking to the future with anticipation and optimism as we continue to pursue our ambitious 2030 sustainability goals to support the long-term growth and development of the Port for Queensland.

"While we're making strong progress against our sustainability initiatives right across our business, we also recognise that there is always more work to be done. We are striving to be a sustainability leader in the ports industry, and thank our customers, stakeholders and the community for their ongoing collaboration and support."
