CEO's message

Image

Welcome to this month's edition of Port of Brisbane News.

As we closed out the 2022/23 year, last month we hosted our Trade Forum, providing an overview of the Port's FY23 trade outcomes for stakeholders.

Development continues across the Port, with our Infrastructure team completing and commissioning a fire system upgrade at our Pinkenba Common User Berth. We have a number of property developments underway and nearing completion around the Port, including a warehouse facility for our new customer, Rogers Transport, at Port West.

I'm also pleased to share that Hummingbird House has been chosen by our employees as the Port's 2023/24 Employee Charity, with plenty of fundraising activities to come over the next 12 months.

Trade Forum

Our Trade Development team hosted PBPL's Trade Forum in August, with trade customers and stakeholders joining to hear an overview and analysis of FY23 trade. We were joined by Drought Angels, one of our trusted community partners, well known for its personalised support to farming families in Queensland rural communities.

PBPL has proudly contributed $10,000 to the 'Flanno for a Farmer' campaign. Thanks to our guests who came along in their finest 'flanno' to show their support for this important initiative.

Construction underway for Rogers Transport

Construction is well underway on a warehouse facility for national transport provider and new port customer, Rogers Transport, in our Port West Industrial Estate at Lytton.

Rogers Transport is a multi-faceted transport provider, dealing in local, interstate and container cartage as well as 3PL warehousing.

Principal Contractor, FKG, is delivering the project. Construction is progressing well, with ground improvement works complete and erection of the steel portal frame well underway at the 4.96ha site. Completion is anticipated in early 2024, weather permitting.

With the addition of Rogers Transport to Port West, Stage 1 of the estate is now fully committed.

We look forward to welcoming Rogers Transport when they move in next year!

Major project at Pinkenba Common User Berth completed

Congratulations to our Infrastructure, Port Operations and Facilities Management teams and Principal Contractor, CV Services Group, on the completion and commissioning of a fire system upgrade at our Pinkenba Common User Berth.

The fire system upgrade delivered important benefits including additional safety process improvements for our customers, and the ability for the wharf to continue to accommodate the larger LR1 fuel vessels, whilst improving the efficiency of the operations and the firefighting capability for our customers.

As an operational wharf and a common user facility, our teams worked to maintain customer access throughout the project.

Well done to all involved!

QTLC wind farm workshops

We were pleased to support two Windfarm Transportation Workshops held by the Queensland Transport and Logistics Council (QTLC) last week.

Key stakeholders from regional ports, government and industry came together to discuss solutions to help streamline the supply chain for wind farm projects through safe, efficient and sustainable storage and transportation. Following the workshops, participants took a tour through Qube's renewable hub at the Port, having an opportunity to see how the storage facility operates.

Our 2023/24 Employee Charity, Hummingbird House

We're delighted to announce that Hummingbird House has been chosen as our 2023/24 Employee Charity.

Hummingbird House welcomes and walks alongside families caring for children requiring palliative care, by providing compassionate clinical care, holistic support and advocacy in communities and regions across Queensland.

We look forward to working with Hummingbird House over the next 12 months to raise much needed funds for their important work, including our regular BBQs for the port community at the Port Café – keep an eye on our social channels for details.
