With the warmer weather finally here and the end of 2023 fast approaching it is a great time to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year at Port Authority.
In the last financial year, we facilitated the secure movement of 5,447 commercial vessels at our ports, supporting our economy with over $100 billion in trade movements for NSW.
Fulfilling our responsibilities in protecting our port waters and the marine environment, our front-line rapid response teams effectively managed 239 incidents across all our ports.
We have been delighted by the rebound in the cruise industry which demonstrated its resilience with a robust resurgence, signalling a return to pre-pandemic levels of activity.
In Sydney, we successfully resumed our cruise operations, while Eden celebrated its most extensive and busiest winter cruise season ever, hosting 34 ships and enchanting 50,000 cruise passengers with the breath-taking beauty of the Sapphire Coast.
The economic boost the cruise industry is providing to NSW and our regional centres is heartwarming and you can read more about our bumper cruise season ahead for 2023/24, featuring the debut of several international cruise lines visiting NSW.
Sustainability has remained a key focus for Port Authority and over the past 12 months we took enormous pride in being honoured with the prestigious NSW Sustainability Advantage Award in the category of Large Business Transformation. This accolade acknowledges our multi-year sustainability journey, during which our teams have excelled in integrating sustainable and innovative practices across our organisation and leading the maritime industry into a brighter and greener future.
Our achievements are the result of the hard work and dedication of the entire Port Authority team who work 365 days of the year in the State's busiest ports maintaining the industry's high standards of excellence every day.
