Further to member notice on 1 November 2023, Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) along with Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) have continued to escalate advocacy in response to DP World announcing exorbitant landside fee increases that were to take effect 1 January 2024.
As a part of our bilateral meetings with Nicolaj Noes (Executive Vice President Oceania – APAC) and DP World executive, FTA / APSA representatives requested a waiver of Terminal Access Charges (TACs), as a form of compensation, as their terminals manage ongoing Protected Industrial Action and the lingering impacts of the cyber incident.
In response, it is noted that DP World are progressing with their intended increases to landside charges from 1 January 2024 and have provided a small level of relief by deferring the increase of the TAC increases from 1 January to 1 February 2024.
For further detailed information on the response of DP World to the negative feedback and access to the Final 30-day Notices of both DP World and Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), please refer to the summary prepared and shared by the Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) available HERE.
