Maersk Operations through Red Sea / Gulf of Aden - Surcharges remain until further notice

Saturday, December 30, 2023

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have overnight received advice, following a multi-national security initiative, Maersk are preparing to allow vessels to resume transit via the Red Sea both eastbound and westbound.

Maersk are providing access to the latest vessel contingency plans HERE

The previously announced Transit Disruption Surcharge (TDS), Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) and Emergency Contingency Surcharge (ECS) for all cargo on vessels affected by the disruptions around the Red Sea / Gulf of Aden will be subject re-evaluation, however, it is important to note these remain in effect until further notice.

Assuming the security initiative achieves its intended outcomes of safe passage for commercial shipping, it is anticipated in the days ahead that other major containerised shipping lines will follow this lead from Maersk.
