VALE - Marie Wheat

It is with great sadness that we share that Marie Wheat passed away on Friday 5 January 2024.

Marie was a long standing contributor to the Australian customs industry, starting with the Australian Customs Service on 10 February 1969, where she spent close to 20 years in various roles including investigations and appraisements.
 
In the late 80's, Marie joined Peat Marwick as a customs advisor.  Marie also taught at NSW TAFE (Petersham) through the 80's and 90's where she taught many of our NSW customs brokers valuation – a subject for which she was a known and a highly valued expert.
 
Marie was a customs director at PriceWaterhouseCoopers for 10 years, before moving to KPMG to head it Australian customs practice in 2004.  Marie was well known for her quick wit and sense of humour. A keen lover of golf, Marie retired in 2008 to spend more time on the golf course perfecting her enviable handicap.
 
Marie's funeral will be held on:
