The temporary group is part of the Australian Government's interim response to the safe and responsible AI consultation.
The Australian Government has set up a temporary artificial intelligence (AI) expert group.
The government's interim response highlighted how we will work with industry, academia and the community on the right regulatory response to AI. This includes an early action to set up a temporary AI expert group.
The group will advise us on testing, transparency, and accountability measures for AI in legitimate, but high-risk settings to ensure our AI systems are safe.
This group includes experts from a range of areas including:
- computer science
- ethical AI and IP
- consumer law.
The group first met on 2 February 2024 and will continue to operate until 30 June 2024.
