Port of Brisbane Applications open for $100,000 community grant funding

Monday, March 4, 2024

Eligible organisations can now apply for up to $15,000 in grant funding through the Port of Brisbane's $100,000 2024/25 Community Grant Program.

Port of Brisbane CEO, Neil Stephens, said the Port's Community Grant Program had provided over $1 million to local and regional organisations across the southeast corner and southern Queensland since 2013.

"The Port's grant funding program is an opportunity for us to support local and regional communities across our trade hinterland, partnering with grassroots organisations as well as those more widely known. Last year, we supported 12 community organisations with a range of initiatives and services from the Bayside, across the greater Brisbane area and west to Chinchilla," said Mr Stephens.

"Alongside our grant funding, we also identify volunteer opportunities so our team can give back to these community groups as well, and we're very much looking forward to continuing this with our 2024/25 recipients.

"We strongly encourage eligible organisations to apply, whether your focus is community wellbeing, working with young people or making a difference to the environment around us."

One of last year's worthy recipients, Drought Angels, received grant funding to support Australian farmers who had been impacted by natural disasters.

Drought Angel Chief Executive Officer, Jason Law, said the Port's grant funding helps the organisation provide financial assistance, food hampers, care packs, and mental wellbeing support to Australian Farmers.

"We're extremely grateful for the support we receive from our partners like the Port of Brisbane. So many of our farmers and their families who are doing it tough benefit directly from programs like these," said Mr Law.

Organisations with projects or initiatives across the fields of education, community, and environment should consider the grant funding, with First Nations organisations strongly encouraged to apply. Applications are now open, with the process closing on Tuesday 30 April.

Interested organisations are encouraged to email info@portbris.com.au to request an application form.
