Australia and ASEAN leaders gathered to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations in Melbourne last week. The Australian Government announced a number of initiatives focusing on two-way trade and investment and shared challenges in the region. This includes high-level collaboration on climate and clean energy.
The Government announced $2 billion in funding to boost two-way trade and investment. The Australia Southeast Asia Business Exchange program will lead business missions across priority sectors. Southeast Asia Investment Deal Teams will work to increase Australian investment in the region.
Austrade's Landing Pads will fast-track market entry for Australian tech companies in two new locations. Private sector 'Business Champions' will facilitate commercial links between Australia and Southeast Asia.
