Since 2012, Australia has had laws to combat illegal logging and promote the trade of legal timber products. These laws are set out in the Illegal Logging Prohibition Act 2012 and the Illegal Logging Prohibition Regulation 2012.
If you import wood, pulp or paper products into Australia these laws affect you. You have legal responsibilities and need to know your obligations.
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is organising a webinar Navigating Compliance with Australia's Illegal Logging Prohibition Laws in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and SCS Global Services.
The webinar is relevant to FSC certificate holders. It is also relevant to non-certified organisations that import and/or process material sourced from FSC-certified suppliers and need to verify that the certification applies to the particular product.
