This outcome is a direct result of careful, calm and consistent advocacy by the Australian Government.
It paves the way for the re-entry of Australia's world-class wines into the Chinese market much sooner than would otherwise have been possible.
At its peak in 2019, Australian wine exports were worth around $1.1 billion. I am pleased Chinese consumers will have the opportunity once again to taste and experience our exceptional Australian wines.
Over the last 18 months, we have seen nearly $20 billion worth of Australian exports previously facing trade impediments, including coal, cotton, copper ores and concentrates, timber logs, oaten hay, and barley, return to the Chinese market.
We know it's going to take some time and patience to rebuild as Australian exporters re-establish their connections with importers and customers in China. But Austrade is ready to help.
At the same time, we will continue to assist exporters diversify their trade, whether it's through our new free trade agreements with India or the UK, or the major investments our government is making in Southeast Asia.
As Australia's Minister for Trade and Tourism, I want to thank you for the work you do everyday to support our economy and showcase the very best of Australia to the world.
