Renewal of Customs Broker licenses - delay in dissemination of renewal packs

Saturday, April 20, 2024

As a part of direct engagement with the Australian Border Force (ABF) earlier today (Saturday 20 April 2024), advice has been received that due to a number of factors it is likely that customs brokers will NOT receive their 'Application for renewal of Customs Broker Licence' renewal packs until mid to late May.

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) has received assurances that this will not impact the renewal process as licences are not set to expire until 30 June 2024.

By way of background, those customs brokers (nominee, corporate and sole trader) wanting to renew their licence for the next triennium (i.e. from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2027) will need to apply for the renewal of their licences.

Australian Customs Notice (ACN) 2024/10 states that if a customs broker, wanting to renew their licence, does not receive their renewal package by 1 May 2024 they will need to contact Broker Licensing so a renewal package can be provided - refer HERE

IMPORTANT NOTE:  In a variation to the advice provided in ACN 2024/10, the ABF has requested that if a customs broker has not received their renewal pack by 1 June 2024 they will need to contact Broker Licensing so a renewal pack can be provided to them.
