DAFF - Import Industry Advice Notice 73/2024 - Consultation for revised class conditions for AA class 1.1 and class 1.3 Depots

Monday, April 22, 2024

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has issued IIAN 73/2024 inviting biosecurity industry participants to provide feedback on the impact of proposed revisions to the conditions of Class 1.1 and 1.3 approved arrangements.

What has changed?

A Have Your Say consultation is commencing with biosecurity industry participants to determine if there will be any impacts with the proposed implementation of revised conditions to existing class 1.1 and 1.3 approved arrangements.

The Approved Arrangement Program's (AAP) review of the Class 1.1 Sea and Air Freight Depot (unrestricted) and class 1.3 Sea and Air Freight Depot (restricted) conditions, aims to further address existing and emerging biosecurity risk that can be carried via sea containers, their cargoes and associated packaging.

The department will proactively address any potential issues which could hinder industry's ability to comply with the revised conditions of the arrangements.

The Have Your Say will be open for consultation from 22 April 2024 to 5pm on Monday 17 June 2024.

What is driving these changes?

The application of indexation demonstrates the department's commitment to avoiding large increases to fees and charges across future years, by engaging more frequently on regulatory charging.

Regulatory charging is a key element to funding Australia's biosecurity system. This remains central to long-term sustainable funding arrangements.
