Purpose

This Market Access Advice reminds stakeholders of the requirements for raising health certification for milk and milk products exported to Peru.

Summary of Key Points

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) has previously negotiated with the Peruvian National Agricultural Health Service several additional endorsements for use on the ZD035 Health Certificate for the export of milk and milk products to Peru.

The additional endorsements available for use are as follows:

  • 3653: Major dairy ingredient is from animals raised in Australia.
  • 3654: Major dairy ingredient is from animals raised in New Zealand.
  • 3655: Major dairy ingredient is not from animals raised in Australia or New Zealand.

Exporters are reminded that when a Request for Export (REX) is raised for milk and milk products to Peru, the relevant endorsement from the above options must be selected. If no endorsement is selected, the export permit will error, and the exporter will not be able to finalise the REX. If the wrong endorsement is selected, the consignment may be detained by border inspection personnel in Peru.

The Manual of Importing Country Requirements (Micor) reflects the information provided in this market access advice. The department encourages users of Micor to subscribe to the Micor update service for a commodity-specific email that lists changes that have been made the preceding week.

The department encourages all exporters to continue to work with their importers to ensure that product meeting the current importing country requirements.
