Customs opens eGates for 10-year-olds and six more countries

Customs is pleased to announce that more international travellers can now use its automated eGates on arrival and departure from New Zealand.

The age eligibility to use eGates has been reduced from 12-years-old to 10-years-old. Access has also been extended to ePassport holders from six European countries: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, Romania and Spain.

This means travel will be quicker and more convenient for European visitors and those travelling with families to New Zealand.

Deferred payment account access gets easier

Businesses with deferred payment accounts will soon be able to access their financial information online, with the launch of MyCustoms Account planned for June 2024.

MyCustoms Account is a new digital self-service tool that allows users to view their account balance, available credit, and transaction history. Monthly statements will also be available to download.

Setting up MyCustoms Account is free and easy – eligible businesses will be sent an email with a link to active their MyCustoms Account. Access will be rolled out in stages, with the platform available to all businesses with deferred payment accounts from the end of June.

Exporting to the EU

Did you know that almost all New Zealand products exported to the EU have had their tariffs removed entirely?

If you already export to the EU, this will reduce your costs of doing business in the EU market.

If you're thinking of exporting, find out what's involved.

Supplier Code Search

The supplier codes search function is an effective way for TSW Users and interested parties to search for client supplier codes.

Customs' website supplier search is currently returning exact matches only. Therefore, you will need to enter the exact name of the supplier as recorded in Customs' data to retrieve the client code.

Customs' website also allows verification of a supplier name if the supplier code is known. Visit the search page.

Customs is currently working on providing a fuzzy search function that is suitable for our users.

TSW Users can also access the supplier search function in TSW Online.  All declarants therefore have access to this function.

Customs recommend that you use the TSW Supplier Search as it provides greater flexibility around the search functionality.  The use of the wildcard "?" provides the versatility needed for any search.
