Environmental projects, multicultural and First Nations initiatives, social services, and local sport and school programs are among the 15 successful recipients of the 2024 NSW Ports Community Grants Program.
NSW Ports CEO Marika Calfas said that NSW Ports had once again received many applications across a diverse range of worthy projects and initiatives
"NSW Ports is proud to support so many great projects through our community grants program this year. Our local communities are integral to what we do and we are proud to be able to give back," she said.
Local projects to receive grants this year include PlantingSeeds to support birds, bees and biodiversity in local schools; a grant to Southern Youth and Family Services to support vulnerable people and families; funding to support Jirrawich culture camps for young people to learn about Aboriginal culture; and funding of a special wheelchair for junior basketball players.
NSW Ports' Community Grants Program is focused on building strong and collaborative relationships with our local communities that contribute to making them better places to live, work, learn, and play.
Not-for-profit organisations and local groups were invited to apply for one-off grants up to $25,000 for local projects, services and initiatives to benefit communities surrounding Port Botany, Port Kembla and the Enfield and Cooks River intermodal terminals.
"This program is an opportunity for us to invest in projects that provide benefits to those living in our local areas. By working together with these organisations, we can continue to build strong, inclusive, thriving communities," Ms Calfas said.
Through its operations at Port Botany, Port Kembla, the Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre and the Cooks River Intermodal Terminal, NSW Ports contributes $13.6 billion annually to the state economy and supports around 65,000 jobs.
