• Registered exporters, agents, and approved export permit issuers
• Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) - Central and Regional offices

Purpose

The purpose of this notice is to inform industry that every request for export (RFP) generated in the next export documentation (EXDOC) system must be progressed to a status of complete (COMP) within 45 days of being authorised.

Summary of Key Points

• The export legislation states that an export permit is valid for 28 days starting on the day the permit is issued (when the RFP has been authorised by either an Automated Export Permit Issuer (AEPI) or the department).
• Currently, when an RFP has been authorised and is at "CTRD" status, it is considered that there is a valid export permit.
• Going forward, all RFPs, including those at the "CTRD" status, must be brought to "COMP" within 45 days of the RFP being authorised.
• Failure to comply with the 45-day submission deadline will result in the department progressing your RFP to "COMP".

Background

• When completing an RFP there are several statuses your RFP may go though:
• Draft (ORDR): You have supplied sufficient information to generate an RFP number, but not enough data to lodge an RFP application.
• Final (FINL): You have supplied enough information to allow authorisation and eligible to produce the certificates. The RFP has been lodged but is not yet authorised. At this point the RFP can be authorised, by either the exporter if they are an AEPI, or the department.
• Health certificate ready (HCRD): The RFP has been authorised and the associated certificate(s) can be generated and printed. RFPs with this status have their print indicator set to hold.
• Certificate ready (CTRD): The REX has been authorised and the associated certificate(s) can be generated and printed. REXs with this status have their print indicator set to hold.
• Complete (COMP): The RFP has been finalised and all associated certificate(s) have been generated.
• Please be aware that you must obtain a valid export permit prior to exporting goods from Australia. Failure to do so may result in consignments being detained and sanctions being applied.
