FTA / APSA - IN THE MEDIA

International Freight Rates adding to Cost of Living

AFR - Shipping Crisis a "Spanner in the Works" for Inflation War

A major breakthrough has been achieved through our collaborative approach with the Australian Financial Review in generating the front-page article for Thursday 11 July..

FTA / APSA - ADVOCACY
Shipping Delays to Raise Food Prices

On Sky News, Sunday 14 July, Treasurer Jim Chalmers proudly reminded listeners that the federal government has already slashed 500 nuisance tariffs, he importantly also pointed to the ACCC report to be released later in the year to provide a further insight into ways to address shipping costs.

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have encouraged the ACCC to examine whether shipping line THCs have responded to a reduction in quayside charges. We understand stevedores and empty container parks are receiving diminishing returns from contracted shipping lines and are well and truly self-compensating with their VBS fees going through the roof. As well as the need for a Mandatory Code to regulate future Terminal Access Charges, a broader review of competition law exemptions provided to foreign owned shipping lines is essential. See the story and links below to have your say

We kindly encourage all members to take a moment to complete the survey, which will be open until 31 July 2024.  READ MORE
