Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) wish to advise that the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has released Industry Advice Notice 172-2024.
Through direct engagement with the SAC Cost Recovery team DAFF has informed FTA about the new model commencing 1 October 2024, where liability notices will be calculated from ICS data. Cargo reporters will review these notices against their records and resolve any issues before invoicing, seeking to avoid the potential of a lengthy dispute process.
DAFF will use ICS data to determine liability and has addressed various out-of-scope scenarios through industry engagement. DAFF anticipate additional scenarios may arise, which will be addressed through data trials before 1 October. It is essential for the industry to keep accurate records to reconcile notices of liability.
DAFF has committed to refining the process with industry input throughout August and building confidence in the data used.
What needs to be actioned before 1 October 2024:
- Email the SAC cost recovery team at saccostrecovery@aff.gov.au to nominate your preferred DAFF account number for invoicing.
- Ensure that you have a system in place to record the number of SAC declarations lodged and reported by your business.
